The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) is changing the way it validates compliance with the federal Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) requirements. The requirements are described in the attached memorandum PASRR Submissions – Memo to NFs – Final. For all residents ADMITTED to your facility between April 1, 2017 and July 31, 2017, fax the following documents to Telligen at (888) 297-4276 no later than September 15, 2017. The memorandum includes instructions and recommendations to ensure prompt, timely processing of submissions.
- Admission Fact Sheet
- Original Level I screens
- Updated Level I screens for residents originally admitted under Exempted Hospital Discharge and who stayed beyond 30 days
- Categorical Advance Group Determination Reports
- Level II certifications
PASRR for August 1, 2017 going forward: Beginning with the census due in September 2017, when Telligen requests the quarterly census from each nursing facility, they will also request PASRR documents for new admissions. Because the census will be used to compare PASRR completion dates to admission dates, it is necessary that the census include ALL payer sources and represents all residents in the facility on that date.
The Department is currently revising the PASRR Level 1 form, which is expected to be implemented in 2018. HFAM will keep providers informed when training on the new form becomes available. Any questions about PASRR compliance may be directed to Jane Sacco at (410) 767-6771 or email@example.com.
